Does the rule of six apply to Belly Dance classes and does this mean only 6 people can attend?

At the moment the Rule of 6 applies to dance classes in all 3 tiers in the uk

*This does not necessarily mean there can only be six in a class, but that adequate provision must be made to ensure safe distancing.

  • Keep communicating regardless of whether you can meet to dance.
  • Hold online meetups and coffee mornings or dance together online.
  • Should you feel that anyone’s health is affected, keep lines of communication open and check appropriate action such as referring to appropriate organisations for support such as their GP.

Music licensing for online Belly Dance classes, performances and Haflas

Am I licensed to play music for my online dance classes?

  • Check with PPL and PRS re-licensing for playing music online.
  • *There are temporary music licenses as well as yearly ones.
  • Also, it may be worthwhile checking, where your music is not covered by PPL or PRS, to ensure artists, individuals or societies, give you permission to use their work.

What advice would you give for a safe return to Belly Dance Classes during Covid-19?

  • Look at sites like the WHO training for covid-19.

  • Put in place contingency plans for the welfare and safety of yourself and others
  • For safe return to dance and continued covid safe practices keep up to date on gov guidelines as these change over time
  • write a plan and conduct risk assessments
  • Consult with others and regulating bodies

Do I need to do a special risk assessment for my Belly Dance class during Covid?

Risk assessments are essential and should be conducted prior to every class

BUT you must also do a risk assessment for returning safely under the Covid-19 circumstances. HSE GOV GUIDELINES UK 

  • Liaise with other relevant bodies and ensure adequate provision for safe return to dancing
  • Have a list of “what to do if … ” scenarios
  • Have adequate Covid-19 safeguards in place
  • It is vital to keep accurate records

Insurance and Membership Payments

We have had many requests to make the Membership and Insurance years start at the same time. So as of November 1st 2019 you will only be able to buy 6 months of Insurance (at £25). This will last until April 30th 2020 at which time you will be able to renew both Membership and Insurance on an annual basis. If you have already purchased 12 months of Insurance please contract the Insurance co-ordinator.

Thank you for your continued support.

This is a letter to keep you updated about GDPR many of the regulations regarding Data protection have already been in force for some time. Recently these laws became more stringent. We operate with the understanding that as members you have given us permission to use your data to manage your subscription and for membership related business.

We will never share your information with third parties, *with the exception of Insurance (see below).

 

At MADN we do all we can to ensure your data is safe and only shared on a need to know basis. We hold your information online on password protected computers. We share your information among the committee members as is deemed appropriate for the function of running the organisation smoothly.

 

Where hard copy is necessary this is kept in a secure place and will be destroyed securely after 8 years or as is appropriate.

 

Insurance is the only area that differs. Our Insurance team liaise with and share your insurance information with the insurance brokers as is necessary to enable us to provide you with insurance.

 

Our printer used to distribute the Mosaic magazine, we have decided to keep this in-house so distribution, once published, will be through MADN this removes the need to share your addresses with the publisher.

 

You can request to know all information we hold on you at any time and we will produce this.

 

We cannot print the teachers list online without consent. We have printed the list in Mosaic on this occasion, using the basis “legitimate interest” we would like to continue to print the teachers’ listings and for this we need your express permission. Please advise us for the future so we can continue to print your details in the magazine and on our website. *You must have current insurance cover to go on the list.

 

Where you have given MADN permission to use your image, you also have the right to withdraw consent.

 

You can opt out from any of the above at any time.

Review of Bellylicious – The Sequel by Maggie Godsland

The belly diva’s confessions cover all sorts of subjects from the origins and nature of the dance to whether she is wearing knickers or not (I’m not telling you the answer here) and are illustrated by dance and to my surprise songs! That Galit can dance I already knew before I saw the show but I didn’t realise that she can also sing. As the belly dance diva of the title she also bursts into song both to make us laugh and to drive home a point with both eloquence and feeling.
